In the latest in the ‘Me-too’ search engine wars, Microsoft has announced a suite of free software and web services they are calling ‘Windows Live‘ services, sort of like the Google Pack. Included in the package are existing known programs such as live search and of course hotmail, in addition to a writer program tailored toward blog editing, ’sky drive’ online storage, kid-friendly content filtering, and a few other applications. To be honest some of the new Live services look pretty good. I’ll be checking out the writer program and see how it does with blog editing…and we can always use another online storage/file sharing site. If anything really exciting stands out, I’ll let everyone know.

Google has just announced that they are apparently ready to start running ads on Youtube.
Google has had Youtube for a few months, and has been reluctant to start pushing ads until they could find a way to do so that was unobtrusive to the users, for fear of driving their audience away. Well it looks like after months of testing, Google is finally ready to release their advertisements and get some of that investment cash back.
